Tamarix oxysepala, Tamarix tenuifolia
Tamarix passerinoides is a shrub or small tree native to Asia and the Middle East. In Qatar, it has been found to grow in coastal areas, particularly in saline environments such as salt flats and mangrove swamps. It is known for its ability to tolerate high salinity levels and can thrive in conditions with low rainfall. The plant's presence in Qatar suggests its adaptability to extreme environmental conditions, making it a notable species in the country's flora.
Observations of Tamarix passerinoides in Qatar reveal that the plant produces large, showy flowers. On February 21, 2014, big flowers were observed on plants at the entrance of Umm Bab in south-western Qatar. The plants were found to be in bloom, with vibrant flowers visible on the branches. A closer look at a blooming twig revealed a dense cluster of flowers, indicating that the plant is capable of producing a profuse display of blooms. The observations suggest that Tamarix passerinoides is a flowering plant that thrives in the environmental conditions found in south-western Qatar, and is able to produce an abundance of flowers in late February. The blooming period appears to be a notable feature of this plant species in Qatar.
