Senna surattensis is a flowering plant native to tropical Asia and Africa. In Qatar, it has been naturalized and can be found growing wild, particularly in coastal areas and sandy soils. Studies have reported its presence in various regions of the country, including the northern and southern coasts, where it thrives in saline environments. The plant's ability to tolerate high salt levels makes it well-suited to Qatar's arid climate. Locally, it is often associated with other desert vegetation and can be identified by its bright yellow flowers and pinnate leaves.
The plant Senna surattensis has been observed in various locations in Qatar, including the Corniche in Doha and the Onaiza area. It was seen blooming on May 3, 2014, on the Corniche, and again on April 20, 2015, on Al Jood Street, where its leaves were also observed. The plant has also been spotted in a park at Al Intisar Street near Onaiza on December 1, 2015, and again on March 14, 2016. Additionally, it was seen on Al Shatt Street in the Onaiza area on January 18, 2016. These observations suggest that Senna surattensis is able to thrive in Qatar's environment, and can be found in a variety of settings, including parks and streets. The plant appears to bloom at different times of the year, with sightings recorded from April to May and also in December and January.
