Scrophularia deserti is a perennial herb native to the Middle East and North Africa. In Qatar, it has been found to grow in sandy and rocky areas, typically during the winter months. The plant produces small, greenish-brown flowers and has hairy stems and leaves. It is considered a rare species in Qatar, with limited sightings reported in the country's central and southern regions. Further research is needed to fully understand its distribution and conservation status in Qatar.
Scrophularia deserti has been observed in various locations throughout Qatar, including the industrial zone of Ras Laffan, Fuwairit Hills, Dukhan Road, and Jebel Fuwairit. The plant has been spotted bearing purple flowers, as seen near Ras Laffan and in Jabal Al Jassasiya. Dry seed capsules have also been observed, such as on Fuwairit Hills. The plant tends to grow in rocky areas, including roadside ridges and hills, as noted on Dukhan Road and Jebel Fuwairit. Observations have taken place during different times of the year, including March, November, February, indicating the plant's presence in Qatar across multiple seasons. Locations include northern and north-eastern coastal regions, suggesting Scrophularia deserti has a relatively wide distribution in Qatar.
