Salsola obpyrifolia
Round leafed Rothe
Young plants may have clavate leaves. Later, leaves become pear-shaped.
Salsola drummondii is a shrubby annual or perennial plant native to Africa and Asia. In Qatar, it has been found growing in sandy and saline environments.

Qatar, June 24, 2016Dukhan Hwy, QatarObservations of Salsola drummondii were made in various locations across Qatar, primarily in the southern region, between November 2014 and June 2016. The plant was found growing on beaches, roadsides, and in sandy areas, often in windblown sand. It was observed to be a salt-tolerant species, able to thrive in coastal environments. The observations included notes on the plant's morphology, such as its leaves, twigs, and fruits. The plant was seen in various stages of growth, from young shoots to mature bushes. Many of the observations were made along Salwa Road and Dukhan Road, with some records also coming from the Abu Samra area near the Saudi border. Overall, the observations suggest that Salsola drummondii is a common and adaptable species in Qatar's coastal and desert environments. Its ability to tolerate salt and thrive in harsh conditions makes it a notable component of the country's flora.
