Pulicaria undulata is an annual herb native to the Middle East and North Africa. In Qatar, it has been found to grow in sandy areas, wadis, and coastal plains. The plant typically blooms from February to May, producing small yellow flowers. Studies in Qatar have reported that Pulicaria undulata is a common species in the country's flora, often associated with other desert plants such as Zygophyllum qatarense and Stipagrostis plumosa. It has also been found to have medicinal properties, including antimicrobial and antioxidant activities, which are being researched for potential uses.
The plant Pulicaria undulata was observed in various locations throughout Qatar from 2013 to 2016. It was found growing in deserts, along roadsides, and in silty depressions. The plant produces yellow flowers and can form large bushes. Observations were made in western, southern, and northern parts of the country, including near Doha, Mesayeed, Al Zubara, and Al Nuaman. The plant was also found in areas with Ziziphus trees and spear grass. Local names for the plant include jithjath, yethyas, Kootkaat, Rabool, and Ghobbeira. Some observations noted the presence of cattle bones near the plants, suggesting that they may grow in areas where livestock graze. Overall, Pulicaria undulata appears to be a common and widespread species in Qatar's desert landscapes.
