Pulicaria gnaphalodes is a species of flowering plant in the daisy family (Asteraceae). It is an annual herb native to the Middle East and North Africa. In Qatar, Pulicaria gnaphalodes has been found growing in sandy areas, saline flats, and coastal regions. Studies have reported its presence in various locations across the country, including the northern and southern parts of Qatar. The plant typically grows up to 30 cm tall, with greyish-green leaves and small yellow or orange flowers that bloom from March to May. Its growth is often associated with areas of low vegetation and high soil salinity, making it a hardy and adaptable species in Qatar's arid environment.
Pulicaria gnaphalodes was observed to have silvery, pubescent, and furry leaves in various locations in Qatar, including the desert near Ras Laffan and Fuwairit. The plant was found to be blooming on Fuwairit Hills and Jebel Fuwairit in November. Fresh pubescent leaves were seen on a roadside near Zubara in February, and emerging fresh leaves were observed on a rocky ridge of Jebel Fuwairit in March. The plant's leaves were also found in sand on the rocky ridge, and dry stalks with fresh leaves were present in March. The furry leaves of the plant were consistently noted throughout the observations, suggesting an adaptation to the desert environment. Overall, Pulicaria gnaphalodes was observed to thrive in Qatar's desert landscape.
