Alamo Vine
Merremia dissecta is a climbing vine native to tropical regions. In Qatar, it has been found to grow in coastal and inland areas, often in sandy or rocky soils. The plant produces yellow flowers and deeply divided leaves, allowing it to thrive in the country's arid environment.
Observations of Merremia dissecta in Qatar indicate that the plant can be found in various areas of Doha, including Musheirib and Al Luqta. On April 18, 2014, the plant was spotted on Umm Wishad Street in Musheirib, with and without fruits. The presence of fruits suggests that the plant is able to reproduce in Qatar's environment. Additionally, on January 14, 2016, the plant was observed on Al Abeer Street in Al Luqta, indicating its ability to thrive in different locations. These sightings suggest that Merremia dissecta is a adaptable species that can grow and spread in Qatar's urban areas, potentially becoming naturalized. The plant's presence has been documented over a period of nearly two years, highlighting its persistence in the region. Its growth and reproduction patterns in Qatar are notable, with fruits observed on the plant in April 2014.
