Ixora coccinea (or jungle geranium, flame of the woods, and jungle flame) is a species of flowering plant in the Rubiaceae family. It is a common flowering shrub native to Southern India and Sri Lanka. It has become one of the most popular flowering shrubs in South Florida gardens and landscapes. Its name derives from an Indian deity.
Ixora coccinea, also known as Jungle Geranium or Flame of the Woods, is an evergreen shrub native to tropical Asia. In Qatar, where it's cultivated as an ornamental plant, Ixora coccinea thrives in warm temperatures and full sun. It produces clusters of bright red, orange, or yellow flowers, attracting pollinators and adding vibrant color to landscapes. Due to its heat tolerance and drought resistance, Ixora coccinea is a popular choice for gardens and public spaces in Qatar's arid climate.

In a park at Al Markhiya Street, the plant was observed on multiple occasions, with flowers present on May 2, 2015. By May 26, 2015, the plant had continued to grow and flourish. The following year, on April 28, 2016, the jungle geranium was still present in the park, indicating its ability to survive and thrive in Qatar's climate. Additional observations on May 4, 2016, confirmed the plant's presence in another nearby location, near the corner with Al Istiqlal. The plant's persistence in these locations suggests that it is well-suited to Qatar's environment. Overall, Ixora coccinea appears to be a hardy and adaptable species in Qatari parks.
