Indigofera intricata is a shrub-like perennial legume native to tropical Africa and Asia. In Qatar, it has been found to grow in coastal areas and sandy dunes, tolerating high temperatures and saline conditions. Local studies have reported its presence in the country's northern regions, where it forms part of the vegetation in arid ecosystems. The plant's ability to fix nitrogen and withstand harsh environmental conditions makes it a notable component of Qatar's unique flora.
The Indigofera intricata plant was observed in various locations across Qatar, including Harrarah, Sawda Natheel, and Salwa Road. It was found growing in desert environments, often in windblown sand or on roadside areas. The plant was observed to have a spreading bush shape, with some specimens forming pillow-like shapes. It produced flowers and fruits, which were visible in observations from February to April. In some cases, the plant was seen emerging from sand or growing on sand dunes. The local name for the plant is "humeira" or "Hameira", and it was observed in southern Qatar, particularly in areas such as Maszhabiya Reserve and Khashem Al Nekhsh. The plant's growth and development were documented over several years, from 2010 to 2016.
