Helianthemum kahiricum is a small shrub endemic to the Middle East and North Africa. In Qatar, it has been found growing in limestone and sandy areas, often in association with other desert plants. It produces white or yellow flowers from March to May, and its leaves are narrow and grayish-green. The plant's presence in Qatar indicates the country's unique position at the intersection of Arabian and Mediterranean flora.
Helianthemum kahiricum was observed to have yellow flowers in the desert near the industrial zone of Ras Laffan, north of Doha, Qatar, on March 23, 2013. The inflorescence and individual flowers were photographed, showing the plant's blooming habit. On March 20, 2015, the plant was also found on a rocky ridge of Jebel Fuwairit in Northern Qatar, where it was observed with ribbed fruits and alongside other plants like Grey Hare's Ear (Bupleurum semicompositum). The flowers were again noted to be yellow, and the plant was seen blooming in its natural habitat. These observations suggest that Helianthemum kahiricum is a desert-dwelling plant that blooms in the spring, producing bright yellow flowers. Its presence was recorded in two different locations in Qatar, indicating its adaptability to various environments.
