Cressa cretica is a small, prostrate, or erect shrub native to coastal areas and salt marshes. In Qatar, it has been found growing in saline environments, such as mangrove forests and salt flats, where it can tolerate high levels of salt and moisture. The plant's presence in Qatar indicates the country's unique geological and climatic conditions, which support a diverse range of flora adapted to harsh coastal environments.
The plant Cressa cretica, also known as Rosin Weed, was observed in various locations in Qatar, including West Bay, Al Luqta area, and Ras Abrouq Peninsula. It was found to be blooming in March and April, with observations of flower buds and blooming plants recorded on March 22, April 4, and May 3. The plant was also seen growing in a silty depression near a road to Zubara in December. In Al Luqta area, it was observed growing in large masses on Al Furqan Street, with blooming plants recorded on January 14. The plant's local names include Senebiera, didyma, and nedaiwa. Observations were made over a period of nearly two years, from March 2014 to January 2016, indicating the plant's presence in Qatar throughout the year.
