Callistemon viminalis, also known as Weeping Bottlebrush, is an evergreen shrub or small tree native to Australia. In Qatar, where it is commonly cultivated as an ornamental plant, it thrives in the country's hot and dry climate due to its drought tolerance. It features narrow leaves and produces bright red, bottlebrush-shaped flowers that attract pollinators. The plant is often used in landscaping for its attractive foliage and vibrant blooms, and can be found in gardens, parks, and along roadsides in Qatar, where it provides a pop of color in the arid landscape.
The Weeping Bottlebrush plant was observed in several locations in Doha, Qatar, including West Bay, Onaiza area, and Dahl Al Hamam Park. The plant was seen on multiple dates, from December 20, 2014, to March 21, 2016. During this period, the plant was found to be flowering, with red flowers observed in the park at Al Intisar Street and Dahl Al Hamam Park. The flowers were also noted in a park at Al Rafiei Street and Al Markhiya Street. The plant's presence was documented in various parks, indicating its ability to thrive in Qatar's environment. The observations suggest that the Weeping Bottlebrush is a common ornamental plant in Doha's parks, blooming during the winter and early spring months. Red flowers were specifically noted on March 21, 2016, in Dahl Al Hamam Park.
