Subsp. turcomanica was seen only in Irkhaya (Irkaya) Farms.
Atriplex leucoclada is a shrub species native to the Middle East and North Africa. In Qatar, it has been found growing in coastal and inland areas, often in saline soils. Studies have shown that Atriplex leucoclada is tolerant of high salinity and drought, making it well-suited to Qatar's arid environment. It has been identified as a potential species for rehabilitation and conservation efforts in the region due to its ability to thrive in harsh conditions.
Atriplex leucoclada was observed in various locations across Qatar, including abandoned farms in Ras Laffan, Purple Island, and Green Circles in Irkhaya Farms. The plant was found growing in different conditions, such as in dew, on rocky ridges, and in roadside depressions. Observations were made over a period of two years, from 2014 to 2016, with multiple sightings in Irkhaya Farms, where it was noted on center-pivot irrigation circles. The plant was also spotted in other areas, including Al Khor, Jebel Fuwairit, and Doha, specifically in Qatar University's park. Subspecies turcomanica was identified in some cases, with seedlings and mature plants observed. The plant's adaptability to different environments is evident from its presence in various habitats across Qatar.
